No.

MY book.

My story and my life,

written within the pages long ago.

Pages torn and worn,

words highlighted and marked.

MY book,

filled with promise, a peace, and a hope.

Filled with love stories,

battle plans,

wisdom,

strength,

and comfort.

And my book is your book,

his book, her book, their book,

our book.

Our book, our story, our lives.

Growing up

Close your eyes, take in a deep breath.
Count to ten and they’ll soon be done,
Ripping and stealing your innocence.
Breathe out slowly,
Bite your lip and take in the pain.
Hold it in tight, keep it locked away.
Pain makes a child grow.
Don’t you dare cry,
It’s time for you to grow up.
Hold it in until you’re all alone.
Take your blade and let it run.
Close your eyes, forget the pain.
Growing up hurts.
Let the blood wash away your pain,
Carrying your sins down the drain.
Breathe in satisfaction, breathe in relief.
No one knows you’re hurting inside,
And you’re keeping it that way.
You’ve grown up now (maybe much too fast…)
Never showing weakness, silently bearing scars.

(Just hurts a LOT tonight. I needed to get this out, I guess.)

Daddy’s Little Girl

The word forms behind my mouth,
Sending me into a fit of giggles
It dances on my tongue,
Warm.
Bubbly
I smile and say it again,

Daddy.

Suddenly, my nineteen years are forgotten.
I’m young and carefree.
I dance, spin, twirl across the room.

Look Daddy

Watch me spin,
Endless circles across the floor.
My tomboy-ish ways have disappeared.
I’ve dawned a dress, but no ordinary dress
It’s pink.
And it sways with my every move.

Watch me Daddy.

I spin and twirl, my dress going every which way
Laughing and moving,
My soul alive,
My heart exploding in joy.
A young girl set free.

Am I pretty Daddy?

The question hangs,
But I have no doubt of His answer.
Yes.
A beautiful princess
And my Daddy’s the King.

Temptations.

Darkness gripping, choking, closing my heart
“Jesus…“
That sweet name, that loving name
“Loves me…“
Yes, he loves me.
Despite,
My faults.
My failures.
My shortcomings.
“This I know…”
Oh, how He loves me
I know it.
I am confident in that truth.
No matter these temptations.
I am loved.
“For the bible tells me so…”
Comfort in the truth of His word.
Read, learn, live.
He guides me, teaches me
“Little ones to Him belong…“
I am HIS.
Only His.
In Jesus name, Satan I rebuke you.
You have no place here.
No claim.
The brand of Jesus, placed over me.
I belong to Him.
“They are weak…“
Temptations gripping.
“But He is strong.“
Running into His arms.
Those strong, safe arms.
He holds me.
Protects me.
The night is long, the temptations brutal.
Still, I sing the child’s song.
Safe, secure in His merciful love.
